Romantic Italy Honeymoon Destinations
You really can't "lose" with a honeymoon in Italy. The history, the breathtaking beauty, the
amazing cuisine....it's all incredible! Here are some of our favorite locations in Italy:
Even though Amalfi is a small town, there is no shortage of things to do while you are there. You can hike the Valle delle Ferriere, a 4 mile hike that features beautiful abandoned buildings, rock pools, lemon trees and vineyards, and stunning waterfalls. There are lots of shops and restaurants along the beautiful historic streets, and you can enjoy local wines on a wine tour. You can visit the Amalfi Cathedral and view the huge bronze doors, carved altars, and priceless paintings and antiques. And while you are in Amalfi you must visit the famous Emerald Grotto, a beautiful underground cave!
Venice is actually made up of 117 tiny islands! While there you can tour St. Mark's Basilica. This unimaginably ornate cathedral boast gorgeous ancient artifacts and frescoes. You can also tour the Doge's Palace, an incredible gothic castle with impressively decorated rooms. Venice is full of cafes and restaurants, and you can spend hours just walking around the city with beautiful bridges and architecture at every turn. And don't forget to take a gondola tour!
This beautiful lake has become more and more popular in recent years. Lake Como is surrounded by beautiful, eclectic towns offering tons of dining and shopping. The lake itself is absolutely beautiful and is surrounded by the Alps. You can explore gorgeous gardens and historic villas, or take part in some fun water activities. You can also go hiking on a variety of trails where you can find olive groves and terraced vineyards. And did we mention George Clooney has a home there and often invites his friends to stay?
Ravenna is filled with stunning mosaics, mausoleums, and basilicas. Ravenna also has a beautiful beach with clubs and restaurants right on the sand! There is artwork and historic architecture everywhere, and the cuisine in Ravenna is unmatched. And Ravenna has wild flamingos! There are also several towns nearby with their own charm and history.
Like many towns in Italy, Bergamo also features beautiful basilicas and ancient Roman roads. Bergamo has many museums, including The Museum of Natural Science & Archaeology. There is a shopping district with high end stores, and Bergamo is nearby to both Milan and Venice! While there, make sure to ride the funicular, a historic rail car that takes you back and forth from the old city to the new city!
