Tips for the Perfect Spray Tan
Keep these tips in mind before and after your spray tan appointment.
We all know about the damaging effects of tanning in the sun, and honestly...who has the time?! Spray tans have come a long way and are a beautiful and time efficient way to get that gorgeous wedding day glow. We have some tips to help you get a perfectly even tan so you can look your best!
Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate
Make sure to scrub every inch of your body, paying special attention to any notoriously rough areas such as knees, elbows, and ankles. Do this the day before, and use a non-oil-based scrub or exfoliator.
Keep It Clean
Don't wear lotion, makeup, deodorant, etc. You want your skin to be as clean and residue free as possible. If you must wear any of these products before your appointment, your salon should provide you with wipes so you can remove them. Just make sure to be very thorough.
Think Before You Schedule
You won't be able to get wet for at least 8 hours after your appointment. You probably won't want to be too terribly active after your appointment to avoid sweating and rubbing on your freshly applied spray tan. For many people, an appointment in the evening would be best if they will be showering the next morning. But if you will need to shower at night, then definitely schedule your appointment for in the morning.
Shaving & Waxing
Don't shave or wax for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Your skin will need that time to heal from any knicks or irritation, and if waxing you may have leftover residue that will cause splotchy spots in your tan. If you can, wait at least 2 days after your application to shave or wax to give your tan time to properly set.
Wear Loose Clothing
Make sure the clothing you will be wearing after your appointment is loose and breathable. Avoid things like tight boots, scratchy materials, or anything that normally rubs against your skin too much. This can remove some of the spray tan and cause unsightly splotches. You may also want to wear clothing that is dark and avoid light colored sheets on your bed that night too avoid staining them.
