Beauty Tips for Your Wedding Day

You should look your best on one of the best days of your life! We have some tips that can help:

Hydrate

We know, we know...but it really does make a huge difference! Drinking lots of water helps your complexion stay clear, reduces puffiness, and shrinks your pores. Make sure you are keeping track of how much you are drinking to make sure you are getting enough, and think about scheduling some glasses of water throughout the day.

Sleep

Again...we know. Getting enough sleep can have some of the same positive effects as drinking more water, but can also help with things like dark circles under your eyes and can help your hair look more healthy and vibrant. Getting enough sleep also helps with eliminating stress, supporting your immune system, and with your mental health, all of which may need a boost as your day grows closer.

Bridal Trials

It is a VERY good idea to schedule at least one bridal trial for hair and makeup before your big day. This will help you have a chance to get used to the process of having your hair and makeup done, give you an idea of the amount of time this takes, and give you a chance to get to know your hair & makeup artist. Wear white to your trial because wearing a dark color can affect how you see the finished look at your trial vs. how you see it in your wedding gown. And make sure to take lots of pictures to get an idea of how your hair and makeup will look in your wedding day photos.

Washing Your Hair

Wash your hair the night before. Freshly washed hair can be very hair to work with. If your hair is particularly fine or thin, skip using conditioner. Do this before your bridal trial as well!

Sunscreen

If you are having an outdoor ceremony or reception, sunscreen is a must! You do not want to end your day with a horrible, painful sunburn. Luckily, you don't have to be a greasy, smelly mess, either. There are lots of option out there that smell and feel great! We recommend trying Supergoop!

Lasting Lipcolor

With all the kissing and eating and drinking you will want to make sure to give your lip color some good staying power. No matter what product you end up using, follow this application process to help your lip color stay in place: exfoliate your lips with a nice lip scrub, fill in lips with a lip liner pencil, apply lipstick or stain, blot, apply lipstick or stain again, and then use a nice gloss for comfort and shine.

For The Shine You Don't Want

On your wedding day you will be walking around a lot, possibly in a very heavy dress, and maybe in the sun or heat. Excess sweat and shine can become a real problem! Make sure to keep blotting papers and pressed powder close by for touch-ups along the way to keep yourself photo ready!
